Worship & Creative Arts
Vision Our
vision is to passionately seek a lifestyle of worship that inspires
others to live lives of genuine devotion, passionate praise, and
spiritual surrender.
Values
Authenticity: Being
transparent and honest about our struggles and who we are in the Lord
leads to an environment of Authenticity. The congregation benefits
from seeing that those up front are just as human as everyone else.
Lack of authenticity is the main argument that people use for not
attending church. We have a great responsibility to portray ourselves
as being holy and set apart for God, while still being the broken
vessels that we are.
Consistency: The body
desires consistency. We have a God who does not change and so we
naturally are drawn to relationships that exhibit steadiness. We need
to be consistent with how we operate as a team. Arriving on time and
ready for events and services is a great example of being consistent.
Relationally, consistency can be lived out in how we treat each other
with respect on and off the platform.
Creativity: We are
called to be creative creatures in our role as a worship team. This
may look like a "well, duh" statement, but there is more depth to this
point. We are to be creative, but if it is all just about being
creative we miss it. This point must always be in balance with
sensitivity and the other values listed here. If we are creative but
not sensitive than we can crush what the Spirit may be doing in
someone's worship experience. If we are creative, but not consistent
then we may not build up an environment of unity.
Sensitivity: Worship
incorporates our emotions, spirit and so much of who we are. We are
called as a worship team to be sensitive to a number of factors.
First, we are to be sensitive to following the leadership that the Lord
has placed in our lives. The Holy Spirit does not move in opposition
to Himself, so by being submitted to authority we are all being
sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit. We are also sensitive to
each other on the team, both musically and spiritually. We are also,
sensitive to how the Spirit may be moving through the congregation.
Simplicity: This should
not be confused with being simplistic. We will approach worship with
simplicity of spirit that strips away the complex obstacles that we as
humans create by our very nature. As artists we have a tendency to
complicate our art. music is not the notes themselves, but the space
between the notes. This being said the sign of a true musician is the
ability to know when not to play. When performance becomes more
important than the heart of worship, true worship is compromised.
